Purdy shelf.

Ok, so I told you about the shelves that I gussied-up. I have finally found a few pieces (new and from around the house) to make it purdy.

See:

Hermione is back. And she has a purpose, other than observing us. She is now the book-keeper :)

Let's talk about the frame for a minute. I went to my fav, Sugar Bears Thrift Store, and found this sweet, minty/aqua frame...BUT it had a creepy picture in it:

Slightly weird. I know. I was kind of embarrassed to buy it. The lady at the counter was like "Oh, what a beautiful picture!" I just smiled and agreed. I didn't tell her that creepy little girls gazing out into the distance weird me out a little.
DUN DUN DUN.....!

Ahh! OK. I'll stop now

I couldn't resist the distressedness (Made it up. You're welcome.) of the fabulous color:

So, I took Ms. Creepy McGee out of there and put a much more pleasant looking child:

I just put scrapbook paper behind the picture to fill in the open space. Awful lighting, I know this. I was trying to rush to get the picture before the sun went behind the trees and set.

So, I made this the other night and fell in love with it:
Eggplant parm. With copious amounts of cheese. There wasn't that much. I know it looks like a ton, but it was just a thin layer at the bottom that oozed out. It's the angle. I promise :)

I got a massive order on Etsy. Massive massive, people. So thankful! But my poor fingers sure aren't. Back to the felty goodness.

Have a great rest of the week! Happy Cinco de Mayo. Now, go eat a taco!

  1. Okay, 3 things:
    1. I love that you can see your collage in the mirror. That is totally my plan for the guest bedroom with the good ol' Goodwill mirror.
    2. I was on the phone with Ma while reading this blog and scrolled through the pictures quickly. I was horribly afraid initially that you LIKED the creepy child in the picture. So glad we're on the same page with that.
    3. This is sort of scary, but out of the scrapbook paper I have -- I picked out that EXACT piece to go in a frame that Scott painted for me the other night for my collage.

Craziness! Sometimes we're so different and sometimes we're SO alike. It's funny how that works!

ADORE the shelf and seeing the collage in the mirror and how all the colors tie together. Fantastic job.

  2. PS: I still need to find a baby frame so that I can have you make me a rosette for my collage. I will be straight up copying you on that one, sorry! ;)
